Jubilee (Hebrew: יובל yōḇel;) is the year at the end of seven cycles of shmita (Sabbatical years) slaves and prisoners would be freed, debts would be forgiven, and the mercies of God would be particularly manifest. (Leviticus 25)
Collective is a cooperative community in which the members have whole ownership of the fruits of their shared love and labor.
Who is the Jubilee Collective?
Jubille Collective a community organized around the idea that maybe Jesus is anti-racist and loves queer, trans, two spirited people too.
We are a new gathering of faithful and not so faithful disciples trying to muddle our way through the mess that is the 21st century. We are trying to find meaning through community and connection together through the acts of sacred storytelling, breaking bread, and gathering.
We believe in the ministry of Jesus Christ and the radical good news that it has for humanity in troubled times. We gather with Jubilee as our name because we believe the Gospel is liberation, we want to see the prisoners set free, good news proclaimed to the poor, we want to declare a year of the Lord's of the favor in downtown Vancouver WA. (Luke 4:16-21)
We gather in the flesh and online. We are committed to dismantling white supremacy within our own community and seeing that vision of the Kin-dom of God become more of a reality for our BIPOC* siblings and commit to following their lead. We believe our Queer, LGBTQIA +, and Two Spirit siblings are created in the image of the Creator. Full stop. We not only welcome them; we radically affirm them and their leadership.
We believe the term church has lost its meaning in many important ways, while still retaining its sacred place in the spiritual landscape of many, for many others the term recalls trauma, or an institution that has failed to live up to its own sacred scripture. So we gather as a collective of believers, hoping to curate space that would make Jesus dance with joy.
We hope you join us.
